Sharon's Guestbook

We would love it if you would Add to this guestbook!

I agree with the Webmaster's comments from late August. I like to think that Sharon's talent, obvious beauty, and the love of her family & friends outweigh the tragedy & media circus that followed. Other great talents like James Dean, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley-left us far too soon also, but their good qualities endure as well. I hope all of the fans got to watch Valley of the dolls earlier this week-boy, back then it was considered a racy film--too funny now, isn't it? I hope this note finds Debra, her Dad & the rest of the family doing well, and that they always find strength in the happy memories they had with Sharon, Doris & Patti. Best Regards from someone who remembers Sharon from those Beverly Hillbilly days!!!

I see all these postings about" Valley of the Dolls", and felt compelled to share my thoughts. I saw the commercial for the movie on TV,and it bothered me that the movie was advertised as " starring Patty Duke, Barbara Perkins, and Susan Hayward". Why no mention of Sharon? She will never be forgotten, and it is evident by the the posts in this guestbook. I think of her often, and the heartbreak her family endured. No one truly knows the how the Tate family feels, unless they go through such a tragedy. I am sad for Col. Tate, and Debra Tate, because the pain and heartbreak will be with them always, just as it will be with further generations of their family. It is so difficult to find meaning in such a tragedy. I know it's not much, but my thoughts are with them always. Sharon will always be young, always be beautiful, but I'm sure they would rather have her of this earth, where she belongs. God Bless them all.

I wasn't born until 1974, I always new Sharon Tate had been murdered by the Manson cult, but it never interested me until last night(9-16-2002)I was flipping through channels and got interested in an old movie. Come to find out it was Valley of the dolls, and it was Sharon who played Jennifer. It dawned on me that I think my mother named me after that character.(mom died in 1995), I definatly don't have her body(5'1-125lbs) but I do bare a striking resemlance to her . I just thought i would share my story with you. God Bless you, Jennifer

Hi Debra and big tribute to your father colonel Tate Thank god that you've, how can I say, installed this website in rememberance of your late sister. Sorry for my English but I am German, so don' t mind it. One thing really upsets me. There is no movie of Sharon currently availible on DVD. I think it would be a great thing to present a giftset with all her movies on DVD, including "eye of the devil", "the fearless vampire killers", "don't make waves", "valley of the dolls" and the last one"12 plus one". Considering the fans she still has it would probably be a tremendous success. After all she was an actress and not just a victim. Plus you could use some of the money to support a star for Sharon and of course Victim's Rights. Recently I was in America and I purchased the King book"Sharon Tate and the Manson Murders". It read it and I must say I am very angry ' cause he used the crime pictures instead of nice candids. He didn' t need to '' cause sadly you can see them on the internet. Though it was well written and well researched shame on him . This is an ehical crime what he did. Excuse me for saying so Debra but I do think some other people do agree with me. The book is not translated in German, that is to bad 'cause my mother also wanted to read it and she can't speak English.Latley I ordered the Chappel photos on the internet and I was a little disapointed. It doesn,t show all of them though he charged fifty dollars.{ I hope you will get some of the money for your work}. All of a sudden it came to me! Why not creating a wonderfull big black and white photobook of Sharon Tate with citations of Roman philosophers such as Ovid, Catullus or Plutarch. I think this would be great contribution to the memory of your sister. Sharon Tate meets Julius Ceasar There is almost nothing availible of Sharon's work and I am sick and tired of "helter skelter" and Charles Manson. We all know what happened. Today I am gonna call a German publisher that there is no translation available yet of the King book though I despise what he did. Whish me luck with my attempts to recover the works and looks of an icon of by gone days!

i hear a&e will air a biography on sharon oct 29th i think it will be on a tuesday night a&e will air it twice probably that night as they usually do their shows.i know they'll have to focus on manson and show his ugly mug and those hideous women krenwikel.van houten&atkins because sharon is linked to those scumbags forever unfortunately. someone asked me if any of sharon's family will be on this show i said if any it'll be debra tate.there isn't no one left but debra and the father doesn't speak publicly anymore.sharon's sisters had children long after her death sadly they never knew their aunt sharon or cousin paul. and susan atkins & leslie van houten have the most infuriating lawyers god they make me so mad the way they talk about their clients and how they are illegally being denied parole when their clients escaped the death penalty if i had had my way they all would have been fried to a crisp in an electric chair none deserved it more than manson, tex watson & those horrible women.

Debra/Webmaster As a young boy around 12 years old, I remember my mother reading the autobiography of Patty Duke, which contained a photo still from "Valley Of The Dolls". There, Sharon had a most beautiful smile on her face. Knowing then, that I was a homosexual, I was captivated by her beauty (as most gay men are over beautiful women) and wanted to know all about her. Was she still living? Was she still making movies? Sadly, I found out of her murder from my parents. I read everything I could about her killers just wanting to know, even then at a young age just a simple question was within: why? As a makeup artist, her beauty has inspired me in many sessions with people I work with, but there will never be another Sharon. What few movies of her I can rent, or even see...it just isn't enough. A beautiful creature who was so touching in her acting, and in her eyes, you could see she was so full of not herself, but of happiness, love, and kindness. Several of my friends who are designers, artists, and the like have often referred to her as a muse, they cannot get enough of her. Even you Debra, and your other sister as well, all have the aching beauty that your sister had, yet so different. This site is a beautiful one, and a loving tribute. Thanks so much for sharing with us, what the media never had. She'll always be remembered as a loving and beautiful person, because it is so obvious that she was. xoxo Christopher

I can totally see where some of these messages, though well intended, are not fullfilling the purpose of this site. We all know Sharon's tragic end-enough said. What I would like Debra to know is that women in my age group-late 20's and younger, are more enamoured with Sharon for her beauty, talent and style. She epitomized an era in which we wished we had lived. Personally I think she was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. And seeing photos of her in her 'mod' clothes and makeup brings me inspiration. I'm glad you posted the picture of Kelly Osbourne's bedroom-Sharon, not because of her death, but in SPITE of it, is a real icon to those of us who design, perform and strive to have a semblance of her style. She is in the same group as Audrey Hepburn, Anita Pallenberg, and Brigitte Bardot. There won't be another Sharon, thats for sure.

With all due respect to the writer below, I would like to take the time to dispel the erroneous myth that Sharon is only famous due to her death. That's simply not true, it's more of a generational perspective. People above approx. 45 years old, remember Sharon Tate's life and career first hand.

Sharon was on TV, was a sought after model, was the featured story in many magazines, starred in movies, ie., she had a very high media profile in her time. Think of how the average 15 year old in 2002 knows who Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Anniston and Julia Roberts are. However, should one of them die right now, what would those same 15 years olds' children remember in 30 years?

Over the last 30 plus years there have been many profiteers who've made it their business to exploit Sharon's death in order to sell books and seemingly to promote her murderers. They've always been there.

The internet is still relatively new. This site is allowing us to give Sharon's memory and legacy a positive outlet in order to let younger people learn who she really was. Hopefully this site will help balance the "skewed spin" that has been unfairly hoisted upon Sharon Tate.

Lastly, beauty and love are timeless. It's time for Sharon to be remembered as she truly was. A timeless beauty who was loved very much by her fans, her friends and her family.

Please see Sharon's Filmography and other credits page.

I hate to admit this. Sadly it's true. Like a lot of people, because of my age (7 years old at the time of her death), I became aware of Sharon Tate because of the Helter Skelter thing. She is truly the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.

Dear Debra, I personally cannot imagine the anguish and torment your family has endured. It seems the Tate family has had more than their share. But you have done something that not only keeps Sharon's name alive, but Doris and Patti as well. God gives us a life plan-it is often bumpy and treacherous. You are here though Debra. There are reasons, and you are living up to your fate by going to the hearings, creating this site, and being so active in victims rights. I don't know. For some reason I have always felt a connection with Sharon. Before I even knew who she was. I live very close to Cielo now, and I just feel more than ever a connection. I'm sorry if you feel I'm being insincere or 'weird', I just can't explain it. Bless you Debra. I know it can't be easy to be the last voice for your family. Rest assured, there are many, many people who remember Sharon Tate.

Debra, I would like to commend you for continuing the good work that your mother so admirably started and your sister Patti continued in the fight to keep the Manson Family in prison where they belong. There are many people in this country who are with you in spirit, and you are not alone in this endeavor. I was just a little bit too young to remember Sharon during her short yet blossoming career as a movie actress, but I've always had an attraction for her, not only for her tremendous physical beauty and talent, but also in the sense of a profound sorrow and sympathy that no human being should ever have to suffer what she went through on the fateful night. So Debra, keep up the good work of being a voice for the victims and never give up the hope and belief that through God's love and grace, you really will be reunited with your sister Sharon some day.

Dear Debra, I have been a fan of your sister for many many years.I try to get all the information I can about her and her life. And as much of the information I have recieved,I still have been wondering. For so many years i've wanted to know things about Sharon that I've never been able to find out.For me it's the little things in life that really gives a person his or or outlook in life, the every day little things, something that i've never found in all my findings about Sharon. For instance, what was her favorite color,if she had one.what about her favorite food and drink? music, flowers, men's colonge?what was her favorite tv series that she used to watch when she stayed home?what was her favorite holiday and why? There's so much information about Sharon out there but,I would love to know what she was like in a "down to earth" way,a more human being insite rather than some outside information atempting to piece her life's story together. I would greatly appreciate any information you would like to share with me about Sharon.Thank you for taking the time to read my message, it's really means alot to me...................Bob

A wonderfully gifted and beautiful actress and person. I only recently came to appreciate her work (outside of the much-cliched 'Valley of the Dolls') and find her to be the essence of Hollywood's second age of glamour. Your are correct in saying that much of today's view of '60's era glamour is based upon her look. A wonderful site and a fitting tribute to a great and classy lady.

I was 12 years old during the summer of '69, and living in Pasadena, CA. I remember all of my buddies and I drooling over Sharon's photo in the magazines that were plugging "Valley of the Dolls". We thought that she was absolutely HOT!! As a matter of fact, we had an elaborate scheme worked out to sneak into the United Artist Theater on Colorado Blvd. to see the movie (It was rated R, and we were only 12, so skullduggery was in order)...and then we heard the news that Saturday morning in August. The song "In the Year 2525" by Zager and Evans was #1 on the radio that week, and it seemed that immediately before or after the news updates on KRLA regarding Sharon's death, they would play that song (hey, it was AM radio!), and to this day, whenever I hear that song, my throat gets a lump in it and my eyes mist up because it still conjures up the feelings and memories that I felt on that terribly sad day back in 1969 when we all lost a little piece of heaven ( hey, I'm choking up just thinking about it now!). I think of Sharon whenever I see a blond haired beauty, and a lot of times I find myself comparing them to her, and so far, none have even come close. God Bless you Debbie, and God bless Sharon.
